Prior to meeting his end at the hands of Ælla, Ragnar made a great dent in the kings forces clad in a magic shirt gifted by Aslaug that turned the blade of his foes. He was eventually subdued by sheer numbers and his shirt removed before being sent to die in the snake pit.
